Where the process breaks
The warehouse records an issue, while the maintenance team records completed work. If these events are not linked, questions remain: which equipment received the part, which batch was used, and which materials were returned after the repair?
The data that connects warehouse and operations
Connected records rely on an equipment identifier, a defect or job, a material request and installation confirmation. Serialised parts also have individual numbers. This makes it possible to trace a particular item rather than just a change in stock balance.
An end-to-end workflow
The supervisor records the defect and requirement. An approved request becomes a warehouse task. After issue, the assignee confirms actual use, and the result and document become part of the equipment history. Unused materials follow a separate return process.
Where to start
Choose one equipment group and a typical repair. Compare existing documents and reference data. Check which events are already recorded and who confirms each physical action. This helps define an initial automation scope and the integrations actually required.
